Automotive Detailing With Adam's Polishes - Audi A4

So after sorting through a room full of random detailing products that I have gathered over the years, I decided it was time for a little upgrade. Instead of piecing together a detail kit from a wide range of makers, etc. I decided to go with the full Adam's product line from Detailers Domain. When I mean full, I mean full. I have everything they have to offfer. I got a very very nice deal through phil@detailersdomain.com. If you contact him, and mention you got his name from a4mods.com, he will set you up with a discount on all of the products.

I was originally goin to do a writeup on how to detail a car, but then I changed my mind. The Adams polishes website has a full video collection that shows you the step-by-step process. The videos are a lot more helpful than pictures, so I will just host the videos and give you the links instead. The videos of the whole process can be found in the Videos Library.

However, in order to contribute something to the cause, I will give you a series of before and after shots. I will also tell you what products I used for each before and after.

During my first round of details, I did 2 cars. I did my Ebony Bearl A4 and my friends Silver Jetta TDI wagon. My car is in great shape already, but as you may imagine I have swirl marks which are inevitble with a black car. On the other hand, my friends car was a disaster.

I have also recently added pictures of an Exterra that I did towards the bottom of the page.

I will let the pics speak for themselves:

SUPPLIES - In the picture above you will find basically everything Adam's Polsihes has to offer. By no means do you NEED all this stuff, but its all good to have. I feel like it was better for me to get the whole set, then replenish as needed. For each before/after I will say exactly what I used.

Engine Bay

Before      After

For the engine bay I just scrubed it with a brush and soapy water to get the major grime off. Then I went through it with a hose - very lightly, very quickly. I let it dry while I washed and dried the rest of the car. When it was dry I hit all the large spots with Adam's V.R.T on a micro-fiber applicator pad. Then all the hard to reach spots I hit with Adam's In & Out Spray. These two prodcuts are great. They go on very easily and are COMPLETELY dry to the touch. There is no greasy feeling like you get with some tire shines, etc. If you are going to get only a few products, I highly recommend these go on your list.

Deep Key Scratch

Before      After

Now these pictures may be deceiving. The scratch in the pic is a key mark on my car. It was DEEP (you can easily feel it with your finger/finger nail). The improvement in the pic may not look drastic, but it is. If you are more than 2 feet away from the car it is VERY hard to see now. I used to be able to see it from across the parking lot.

For the scratch I used the Revive Polish and the Scratch and Swirl remover. These were applied with a Porter Cable 7424 (also available from phil@detailersdomain.com). I then removed them by hand, and applied some of the Adam's Butter Wax. I am impressed with the results

If those scratch removal results don't impress you, then let me show you this. Like I said before, as I was doing my car I decided to do my friends silver Jetta TDI wagon. He and his wife let their black lab hang out in the back of the wagon when they go places. The dog jumps in and out of the trunk all day long so needless to say, he scratches the hell out of the bumper. This combined with the fact that my friend RACKS miles onto the car, just adds up to a disaster.

For that amazing scratch removal I used the same three products - Revive, Scratch and Swirl remover, Butter wax. This was obviously after cleaning with the car wash, etc. I applied the products with the Porter Cable 7424 at hits highest setting (7). The results were amazing.

If these pics don't say enough, here are a couple more....
