Additional Questions - Non Writeup Specific / K04 Upgrade??

Hey everyone!!

My turbo is going bad so a want to DIY K04 upgrade.

I have GIAC stage II software, big injectors, bov, exhaust, intake.... if I do the install myself WILL my car run right so I can drive about an hour away to have my CPU flashed for the K04??

Other then the K04 itself do I need any other parts or does it just directly bolt on??

Do I need any special tools??

And last, how much should I be paying for the K04?? If im trying to save some money, is a remanufactured K04 ok??

Any info is greatly appreciated!!

Found the problem, it was a spark plug with a broken collar, and a melted MTC check valve. Changed and everything runs fine!!

Hey Audi Fam!!

I have a good question for you! I appreciate any suggestions....

I have a 02 b6 A4, Stage II 23psi, big injectors, GFB BOV and so on....

When I drive normal, barely boosting, car runs perfectly fine. When I come to a stop, idle is a little rough. When I punch it from stop, car will take off fine and boost 23psi for a sec and then make a loud klacking noise and suddenly loss of boost and power, Engine light blinks when the klacking noise is happening, but when I let go of gas, klacking stops and engine light stop blinking and stays on steady. I plug in my OBD tool and it read codes 304, 302, 300, which is cyclinder 4 & 2 misfire and multi-cyclinder misfire, I would think its the ignition coils but ive never heard this sound before when they went bad and my car threw those codes.  Also when I boost, no smoke behind me.

My question is: If I had a blown turbo, wouldnt my codes read something else about the turbo or can a blown turbo cause the cylinder misfires??

Could it be my BOV??

And how are some ways to check if the turbo is blown??

Yea I finally got up there and checked out the antenna booster, sure enough its cracked, dealers want $250-$300 for this part. Crazy LOL!! Does anyone know of any AUDI junkyards in the Los Angeles area??

Thanks bro, yea a KO4 is my plan too....with the right mods its about 80hp gain over the KO3

Inno racks, I got them off of AutoAnything.com for around $400.... They adjust flat and angled to carry 4 snowboards and come with locks.... Ive used them a few times and love them!!

Yea if you want better milage just dont get the big injectors and youll be fine, my rims are RPM's 505 19"x8.5" all around, and only if you stagger the rims (SMALLER in front and BIGGER/WIDER on back), it can disrupt the quattro system

Like donnasess said depends if you have Xenons or not, if you do you need D2S and if you dont then H7's, heads up because the ones in the picture are H4's.

First of all I like your signature donnasess, its nice.... and I do have a manual quattro, I know APR has lower TQ gains then GIAC, and ive heard that APR is more suddle and less aggresive so that might be the way to go....or just sell you car and get a manual quattro =) jk....

DolphinDreDay, I have GIAC stage II with 380cc injectors, and 19" rims and can pull 450 miles on a full tank on a fwy of course no boostin and drivin like a old lady lol....In the city with boostin about 280 miles

Does anyone know how to get a stronger radio signal??

Ive looked into the shark fins but would not know how to install the wire from the roof to the radio lol....

Any other ideas??

I agree that is a good one, but if you want more of a agressive software go with GIAC tuning, it offers a little more HP & TQ gain then APR, thats what i went with and theres a BIG difference....I too was complaining of the stock power of the A4 and a Stage II GIAC tuning, 380cc injectors, Cold Air intake, Milltek exhaust, GFB bypass valve LATER and now my A4 is almost hanging with my cousins 340HP Audi B6 S4 =) on take offs and freeway....Im lovin it =)

Either way, APR or GIAC you wont be disappointed

If you got a 2002 A4, then you got a B6 body style......B6 years are 2002-2005......Yes a 2005 bumper would fit on your car.....As far as body kits, it should fit as long as its made for a B6 A4.....Try looking at the picture gallery here on this site, alot of the pictures say what kind of kits are on the car...... hope this helps a bit....good luck!

Any help plz,
  I just installed a Blitz FATT in my car and cant get the alarm to arm while the engine is still running,
I seen the write up on the Companion Lite which arms the car after the engine shuts off, I wanna be
able to arm it while its still running....this guy on a audi forum wrote this and said it worked, but I cant figure out how to do this....

"Alarm fix: I tapped the wire for fuse 6 (central locking) and removed the 5 amp fuse from the box. I put an inline 5 amp fuse between there and the 75x post next to the 30."

Can anyone tell me how this is done??

Does anyone have a Blitz full automated turbo timer hooked up differently to solve this problem??

4 or 5?? You might wanna go to autozone and have it tested for free......my B6 did the same thing
a few months ago and it came down to the battery.....I changed it and everything ran great...My girlfriends accord did the same thing but it wasnt a bad battery, the battery terminal was just loose........but since you said 4 or 5 years old, usually they're only good for 3-5yrs depending on
the brand......

How old is your battery?? It could possibly be that if its around 3 years old......
